Do you accept insurance?

In order to preserve privacy, confidentiality, and quality of treatment, no medical insurance is currently accepted.  Northview Psychiatric Associates is considered an “out-of-network” provider for your insurance company.  This means that you would be responsible for payment at the time of service and then submit paperwork to your insurance company to be reimbursed directly, if you choose.  Your payment may count towards your deductible.  Below are questions to ask your insurance company prior to your first visit.

  • How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible?  Has it been met?
  • What is my out-of-network annual out-of-pocket cap?
  • How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover for a parity or non-parity diagnosis?
  • Is approval or a referral required from my primary care physician?
  • Do I need to obtain pre-authorization?
  • Are my benefits on a calendar year basis, or a plan year?  If on a plan year, when does it start?

How do I get reimbursed by my insurance company on an out-of-network basis?

  • Pay your balance in full at the conclusion of your appointment.  A detailed receipt containing all of the necessary information needed for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement if you choose will be made available.
  • Submit the receipt along with the claim form made available by your insurance company.
  • You will be reimbursed directly from your insurance company.

Do you accept Health Savings Account, Flexible Savings Account, or Health Reimbursement Account (HSA/FSA/HRA) debit cards?

Yes.  If you have a pre-tax account set aside for healthcare expenses, you may use the debit card that is associated with that account or you may pay by some other means and submit your receipt to that account for reimbursement.  If you do not have an HSA/FSA/HRA debit card, ask your human resources department if you can set one up.

How do I request a new patient evaluation?

New patients requesting an initial evaluation may go to Patient Portal and select “Consultation Request.” Complete and submit the secure screening form after which you will be contacted withing 1-2 business days after submission.

If you are being referred by your doctor or therapist, it will be helpful to provide your treating provider with consent in advance so that the pertinent medical information can be shared with Dr. Bennett in preparation for your consultation.  Your provider may fax (f:919-289-1412) records to my office prior to your first visit.  Also, complete the screening form in the Patient Portal under the “Consultation Request” tab.

What should I expect during my first visit?

An initial session for evaluation will last approximately one hour to ninety minutes and may occur over two sessions.  During this time, the difficulties you are experiencing will be reviewed in detail.  Any medical records provided prior to the initial meeting will be reviewed and with your permission, medical records from previous providers may be requested.  In some cases, it is beneficial to interview spouses, family members, or friends with your consent.  We will work toward developing a comprehensive treatment plan which may include medication management, laboratory blood work,  therapy, and/or referrals to other mental health providers who specialize in various treatment modalities such as individual, group, or family therapy.

Do you provide second opinions?

Yes.  A second opinion involves a physician completing a separate, independent evaluation. This second evaluation will result in an “opinion” from the physician about the diagnosis and treatment plan that can be compared to any prior evaluation(s).

It is usually helpful to have all of your previous mental health records reviewed prior to your first appointment so that more time can be spent focusing more closely on the concerning issue(s) and spending less time on issues previously investigated by other physicians.  After the initial consultation and treatment recommendations, you are free to continue your treatment at Northview Psychiatric Associates or seek your treatment elsewhere.
